Staying Awake On Long Drives

Long Drive Tips For Staying Awake

The summer is the perfect time to gather up your friends or family and head out for a road trip. From the comfort of your car, you can explore the country and all of the cultural and natural beauty it has to offer! You may also run into some more tedious stretches of road, though.

To help you fend off fatigue as you travel this summer, use these driving tips for staying awake on long drives.

  • Rest Up: One of the best ways to avoid drowsy driving is to ensure you do not get behind the wheel tired in the first place. Make sure you get at least seven hours of sleep for a few nights leading up to your long drive.
  • Be A Team: Drive with a passenger who can switch into the driver’s seat when you start to feel tired. Having your passenger talk to you can also help you fend off drowsiness.
  • Eat Right: Sure, a burger might be the perfect road-ready meal, but skip pairing it with fries and a milkshake. Too much heavy food can weigh you down and make you feel tired.
  • Break It Up: Keep an eye on your mileage and take a break every 100 miles or two hours. Get out of the vehicle, stretch your legs, and give your body the chance to relax out of its seated position before you hop back in the driver’s seat.
As you travel the country, the last thing you should have to worry about is your car’s coverage.
