Veterans Day is right around the corner; learn how you can show our veterans the thanks they deserve.
Veterans Day is November 11th
. In honor of this national holiday, take a moment to reflect on the brave men and women that have dutifully served and defended the country over the years. In order to show our veterans the thanks they deserve, try out these suggestions to celebrate this Veterans Day.
Attend an Event
On Veterans Day, there are many fundraisers, parades, and other events that are held to honor the veteran community. Take this opportunity to attend an event with your family and friends. While it may not seem like much, simply showing up will show our veterans how appreciative and grateful we are for their service.
Another way to get involved this Veterans Day is by writing letters that thank our veterans for their brave service and selfless sacrifice in name of our country. This is a great activity to do with the whole family—even the kids can get involved by drawing pictures and writing little messages. Once you’ve finished all your letters, send them to the nearest military or VA (Veterans Affairs) installation for distribution. Your words of gratitude will show our veteran community how much we respect and honor them.
On Veterans Day, no veteran should feel forgotten or unappreciated. That’s why it’s important that we all reach out to the veteran community. Many of us have family members or friends that served in the United Stated Armed Forces. This Veterans Day, reach out to them and simply express your thanks. If you don’t personally know a veteran, then visit your local VA hospital. Many of these patients do not receive regular visitors, so simply offering your company and conversation might be the best way to show your gratitude this Veterans Day.
