Everyday Changes that Fight Climate Change

Here are some of the things you can do to actually help the environment.

Now, more than ever, humanity needs to be worried about the effects of climate change.  This is why it's so important that we all do our parts to be more eco-friendly.  Here are some of the things that we can do in our everyday lives to actually help the environment. Reduce Your Carbon Footprint There are many things that you can do around your home to reduce your carbon footprint.  Some of the most impactful changes include the following:
  • installing solar panels or switching over to an energy provider that uses clean energy
  • replacing the lightbulbs in your home with LED versions
  • investing in energy-efficient appliances
  • reducing your dryer use by hanging your clothes to dry
  • upgrading to bio-degradable, non-toxic laundry detergents and fabric softeners
  • switching to a low-flow faucets, showerheads, and toilets
Challenge Yourself to Go "Zero Waste" While zero waste sounds intimidating, the idea behind this movement is practicing sustainability and reducing the amount of waste that you produce.  Some of the best zero waste suggestions include the following:
  • repurposing or upcycling things that you already own
  • replacing single-use items (disposable water bottles, plastic straws, baby wipes, etc.) with sustainable or reusable alternatives
  • investing in cruelty-free and non-toxic household products
  • reducing the amount of food waste you produce in the kitchen by planning meals and creating detailed grocery lists
  • composting your food scraps to make use of food items that normally go to waste
Go Vegetarian or Vegan One of the best ways to reduce your impact on the environment is by adopting a plant-based diet.  When you do not use animal products, you cut down on the amount of land and natural resources necessary to rear domesticated animals.  Additionally, going vegan reduces the pollution caused by producing meat and other animal products.  If you cannot bring yourself to go full vegan, then going vegetarian does have a positive impact as well. These are some of the things that you can do to actually help the environment.  Are you looking for assistance with your insurance?  If so, then contact the experts at Fuller Insurance Agency in Southern California today.
